The White Cliffs of Dover

We took our first day trip to Dover. As we were leaving the city we saw a few flurries but did not think much of it. We took the loop around and went to the south east coast of England to the English Channel. This area is not to most scenic in England but we were pretty impressed. We went through a couple of patches of heavy snow fall and wondered if we should turn back but we quickly passed through the patches.

On the way to the Cliffs we saw the Dover Castle. The winds were blowing and it was bitter cold. We ate our packed lunch in the car. Then braved the weather. We could see France in the far distance - this photo is zoomed.

We have to admit we were disappointed. The best view of the cliffs is not from above. Movies show the approach from the water so our view was not the same. But the walk was beautiful looking over the water and seeing the horses.

We decided try driving across London rather than around the loop to go home. We recommend avoiding central London road whenever possible. We arrived home safe and sound but it was not pleasant.

We just watched a show Globe Trekker (one of my favs) on the White Cliffs of Dover this morning! How funny that you just visited there. Dakota will be thrilled to see this pictures especially as he commented that maybe you saw the man that was on the t.v. =) The wild horses are neat and the country side looks beautiful! =)
